A safe bet

It’s been a really exciting week this week. We’ve had our first major event and it was amazing. Over 100 people came to our race night and everyone had a great time. At home, dad made five crates worth of poppadums by hand and we had to carry them all to the venue. We arrived at 5:30pm and started to set up. I was left in charge of serving up the poppadums and mango chutney. It was messy work but was a lot of fun! It took about an hour and a half to set up, but it was well worth it.

As the guests started to pour in, my sister and her band played some songs and Brohmon pop up restaurant started to serve the most amazing curry. We all chatted and ate for a little while and then the main event started; the races. We watched eight different horse races on a massive screen and everyone placed bets on who they thought would win each time. At first everyone just watched and hoped that their horse would win quietly, but by the end people were standing on chairs and shouting at the screen – it was brilliant! It all lasted for about four hours including breaks for betting and music from my sister’s band and the amazingly talented Shakila; she’s been on TV and everything! Overall the night was a huge success and we raised just over £2800.

Tomorrow I’m going to see Dr. Gibson at Stanmore where I’m going to tell him that I’m going to go to Germany for my surgery. We’re not sure what he’s going to say so wish me luck! I’m quite scared because telling him about my surgery makes it all feel a lot more real and it scary. I’ll post an update next week telling you what happens.
